Information you share with us
Newsletter subscriptions
When you subscribe, the email address you enter goes directly to Kit, the service that manages our mailing list and sends our emails. This website does not store it separately. Kit asks you to confirm your subscription by email before you are added. Kit may also record related information, such as when you subscribed and how you interact with our emails, as described in Kit’s privacy policy.
Emails you send us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, your message, and anything you attach. These emails are received and stored using Zoho Mail.
Stories, interviews, and contributions
If you are featured in a story or share photos, artwork, or writing with us, we receive the information you choose to share, such as your name, your story, images, and social media accounts. We check with you before anything is published, and you can choose whether to include your name, account, or a tag. Photos and artwork you contribute remain yours unless we agree otherwise.
Information processed when you visit
- Hosting. This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information needed to deliver pages and protect the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request.
- Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see overall numbers, such as how often each page is viewed. According to Cloudflare, it does not use cookies or local storage to collect these metrics and does not fingerprint individual visitors.
- Fonts. Our pages load typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers, which receive technical information such as your IP address.
- Newsletter form. Pages with the signup form load it from Kit’s servers.
- Links to other sites. Links to Instagram, Google Maps, and other websites take you to services with their own privacy policies.
Cookies and local storage
The code of this website does not set cookies. If you tap the heart at the end of an issue, your browser remembers that choice in local storage on your own device. It is not sent to us. Third-party services listed on this page, including Kit’s signup form, may use cookies or similar technologies under their own policies.
